According to official X-Files trivia, David Duchovny runs faster than a horse…
I want to believe
Why didn’t they just ask him to run slower?
You can’t tame him
I think my favorite part about the X-Files is in the pilot, Mulder meets Scully and immediately proceeds to pick a fight with her and then goes home afterwards

They called him a, and I quote, “misogynistic prick”
Okay so because I have many issues with this I’m going to rant a little bit in favour of one of my favourite portrayals of a TV man:
1. Mulder is not the typical stoic male TV character. You know the one: He doesn’t show any emotion and is the level headed one who looks down upon the emotionally charged female. Mulder is the opposite of that. He is a stubborn emotionally charged male character. For years we watched Mulder fight tooth and nail for what he believed in. We watched him power through when those around him belittled him and doubted him. Honestly that in itself has always been incredibly inspiring to me. Mulder being such an emotionally charged character shows a side of male characters we don’t usually get to see on screen. The major thing: Mulder cries on screen multiple times. He always voices and shows his emotions of frustration, betrayal, love, sadness, etc… And he is not afraid of these emotions. He embraces them and he shares them. I loved seeing this in a major male character because I’m so used to seeing the male character that is tough, emotionless and stoic because “men don’t cry” and because “men don’t make emotional decisions”. This portrayal of masculinity is fragile and toxic. I’m glad that men and boys can watch Mulder show this wide range of emotion yet still be a main and ultimately heroic character. Mulder is emotionally charged, but he is fundamentally human.
2. “Misogynistic prick”. This made me angry. Yes at the beginning Mulder does not warm up to Scully immediately; but one must also remember she was sent to essentially spy on him and he’d been previously looked down upon by the rest of the FBI. Of course the guy would have some initial trust issues. (He’s a human being after all). Yet calling Mulder misogynistic is unbelievably ignorant. We see Mulder consult with many female experts (or just other characters). When he consults with female experts he is very respectful of them because he KNOWS and he UNDERSTANDS that these women are better in whatever their field is than he is. He also does not want to engage in sexual activity with the woman who throws herself at him after drinking (”horny beast” episode, sorry can’t remember the name.) and as well was in an awful relationship with a woman but when said woman comes to work with him on a case he is nothing but polite and tolerable despite her clearly manipulating the poor guy. AND SCULLY. LETS TALK ABOUT MULDER AND SCULLY. I love their relationship. There is no doubt that Mulder loves Scully, but he also respects and admires her greatly. Mulder was by her side ready to fight for those who were against her or treated her unfairly. Yet, he also knew that she was string and could fight her own battles. He always was there for her but he also knew when to let her deal with things herself. Calling him misogynistic is ridiculous to me. Mulder may not understand the issues that Scully has by being a woman but he respects her so he damn well tries. He’s there for her when she learns she can’t have children and despite her being in no position to have children he sees how much it affects her and he does not belittle her. He may not understand her pain because he is a male but he sure knows that she is in pain and he respects that. (Also he becomes the father so that Scully can possibly have a child despite the chances being very slim because he knows thats the best way to help her in an issue that is entirely female in nature)
Okay I’m done, have a nice day folks 🙂
Also if there is spelling and grammar mistakes I’m sorry I’m very tired and have an exam tomorrow
