When Star Wars fan Adam Milton (@adamkinskymilton) got a Darth Vader tattoo seven years ago, he was inspired to change careers. “Like a lot of young people, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do,” says the 29-year-old, who previously painted cars. “But once I got my first tattoo, it was the greatest feeling.” Adam spent the next four years working on his illustration portfolio until landing an apprenticeship at a tattoo studio in his hometown of Perth, Australia. Today, Adam regularly takes commissions to ink Star Wars art on fellow fans. And although he wasn’t born when the film A New Hope premiered in 1977, Adam is part of a global community. “Ever since Episode VII came out it’s turned the whole Star Wars world upside down. Everyone is so in love again.” He was also lucky enough to meet the late Carrie Fisher at a fan event in 2013. “She was great,” says Adam. “It was short and sweet but something I’ll always remember.”

“You know, the only thing I remember from Sunday school is the Martyrs. The Saints, The Saviors. They all end up the same way. Bloody and Alone.”
